Yard Waste/Organics/Clean Green
Yard waste, organics, and clean green materials are accepted at the Spokane Valley University Transfer Station and by optional subscription to Waste Management's curbside pickup service. Using these services, or making and using your own mulch and compost makes a lot of sense, because it:
- Reduces the need for more landfills by keeping compostable organics out of the solid waste stream.
- Saves money on your disposal costs.
- Composted yard waste/organics/clean green materials provide a nutrient-rich substance that can be used as a mulch or a natural fertilizer.
- Reduces the amount of methane produced by decomposing organics in a landfill.
