Rod Higgins first joined the City Council February 5, 2013 when he was appointed to complete a vacated term. In November of 2013 he was elected to the Council for a four year term from 2014 through 2017; and as a result of the November 2017 election, he was re-elected for another four-year term. He was selected by his fellow Councilmembers to serve as Mayor for 2016-2017; and again for 2018-2019. His professional career included nearly 40 years in mining and financial services. Higgins holds a B.S. Degree in Finance from the University of Idaho. In addition to involvement in a number of community and professional organizations, he served as a City of Spokane Valley Planning Commissioner from January 2012 until his appointment to the Council in February of 2013. Higgins was re-elected for a four-year term as a result of the November 2021 election. At the January 4, 2022 Council meeting, Higgins was selected by his fellow Councilmembers to serve as Deputy Mayor for 2022-2023.

Brandi Peetz was elected to position 2 as a result of the November 2017 election. She completed the remainder of the 2017 term, which had been filled by an interim candidate, and then completed the remainder of the vacated term which ended December 31, 2019. As a result of the November 2019 election, Peetz was chosen to serve another four year term. She was selected to serve as Deputy Mayor for 2020-2021. Peetz has been a loyal resident of Spokane Valley for over 26 years. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Sociology from Gonzaga University, and is certified in Advanced Communications, Intercultural Communications, and Cultural Diversity. She has served on several boards and committees including the Spokane County Sheriff's Citizen's Advisory Board. Peetz hopes to get younger generations more actively involved and engaged in our community's interests.

A Spokane Valley native, Arne Woodard is a retired real estate broker. Actively involved in numerous community and professional organizations, he also served on the Spokane Valley Planning Commission from 2010 until his appointment to the City Council in April of 2011 to serve as interim Councilmember in a vacated seat. In November of 2011, Woodard was elected to the Council for a four year term from 2012 through 2015. He was re-elected to a second four-year term from 2016 through 2019; and in November of 2019 was again re-elected for a term from 2020-2023. He was selected by his fellow Councilmembers to serve as Deputy Mayor for 2014 through 2015, and again for 2016 through 2017.

Ben Wick was elected to position 4 as a result of the November 2017 election. Wick previously served a four-year term on the Spokane Valley City Council from 2012 through 2015. He was selected to serve as mayor for 2020-2021. He is a fourth generation Spokane Valley native, graduated from East Valley High School, and went on to get a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science from Eastern Washington University. He currently works as an IT Manager for Spokane Industries, and is the publisher of the Spokane Valley Current and Liberty Lake Splash community newspapers. He is happily married and has four young children. Wick was re-elected for a four-year term as a result of the November 2021 election.

Pam Haley joined the Council in June of 2016 when she was appointed to fill a vacancy. As a result of the November 2017 election, she served in the position until December 31, 2017; she will complete her own four-year term, from January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2021. Haley was selected by her fellow Councilmembers to serve as the Deputy Mayor for 2018-2019. Haley is a small business owner who holds Masters Degrees in Business and Education. Among the skills and interests she brings to her role as a Councilmember are budgeting, community partnerships, children's issues, negotiating, consulting, and local issues. Haley was re-elected for a four-year term as a result of the November 2021 election, and was selected as Mayor by her fellow Councilmembers, at the January 4, 2022 Council meeting.

Tim Hattenburg was elected to serve a four-year position as a result of the 2019 election. Hattenburg previously served ten years on the Spokane County Library Board of Trustees, with seven of those years as chair and vice-chair. He is a lifelong Spokane Valley native and graduated from Central Valley High School, Spokane Falls Community College, and WSU with a double major in education and history. Hattenburg has also completed two years of post graduate study at Gonzaga, Whitworth and Eastern Washington Universities. He is a published author, a small business owner, and is married with three grown children and three grandchildren. He states he is honored to have been elected to serve as a Spokane Valley Councilmember.

Laura Padden was elected to serve a four-year position as a result of the November 2021 election. Padden is a native of Spokane and has been a resident of Spokane Valley since the age of two. She holds a bachelor's degree in Police Science and Administration from Washington State University. She later returned to college and earned a second bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Eastern Washington University. Padden worked in private industry for a number of years and for the last 15 years has been employed at the Community Colleges of Spokane as a software developer. She is active in her church in numerous capacities and currently serves on the Finance Council. She is a frequent blood donor and is active as a volunteer in the community. She and her husband Mike have five grown sons and three grandchildren.
