Planning Commission Meetings
Regular meetings of the Planning Commission are held on the second and fourth Thursday's of the month at 6:00 p.m. Members of the public may attend meetings in-person at City Hall or via Zoom. You can find the Zoom meeting information located in the agenda. The agenda is posted on the website on the Thursday prior to the meeting.
If the public wishes to make a comment via Zoom, an email request must be sent to planning@spokanevalley.org prior to 4:00 pm the day of the meeting. Comments can also be emailed and they will be read into the record or distributed to the Commission members via email.

The purpose of the Commission is to study and make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council for future planned growth through continued review of the City’s comprehensive land use plan, development regulations, shoreline management, environmental protection, public facilities, capital improvements, and other matters as directed by the City Council. One of their current main concentrations is the Shoreline Management Plan. Qualifications for this position include having an interest in planning, land use, transportation, capital infrastructure, and building and landscape design as evidenced by training, experience, or interest in the City of Spokane Valley. Members of the Commission shall be nominated by the Mayor and confirmed by a majority vote of the City Council. Members are selected without respect to political affiliations and serve without compensation. Members must reside within the city limits of Spokane Valley.

Planning Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor to three year terms and confirmed by a majority vote of the City Council. To serve, Commissioners must reside within the city limits of Spokane Valley. Commission members are selected without respect to political affiliations and serve without compensation.
